Dr. Edward Lester Charnock

Dr. Edward Lester Charnock, Sr. 81, of Sandusky passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born November 28, 1940 in Houston, TX the son of Lester and Dorothy (Gross) Charnock. He married Marda Moore on June 19, 1965 and she preceded him in death on September 23, 2011. He married Paula J. Hudak on December 15, 2018 and she survives. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Ed did his undergraduate work at the University of Dayton and received his medical degree from The Ohio State University Medical School. Dr. Charnock was a Pediatrician in Marion, Ohio, ran the Emergency Department at Parma Community Hospital, he was the Medical Director for Elyria Memorial Hospital and worked for the Joint Commission for Hospitals. He was also the Past-President of The American College of Emergency Physicians. Surviving are his wife: Paula; daughter: Nancy (Matt) Parker of Negley, OH; sons: Edward (Barbara) Charnock, Jr. of Negley, OH, Douglas Charnock of Akron, OH; three granddaughters: Brianna, Sydney, Emma; brother: John (Debbie) Charnock of Arizona. He will also be missed by Paula’s children: Elisabeth Ann and Michael John. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife: Marda and brother Lester J. Charnock, Jr. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Jim Brown 10:00 am Friday, June 17, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison St. Port Clinton, OH followed by entombment in Catawba Island Cemetery Columbarium. A Celebration of Dr. Charnock’s life will follow at Twin Oast Brewing, 3630 NE Catawba Rd. Catawba Island. Memorial contributions may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
