Douglas M. Palmer, 68 of Oregon, OH died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon due to complications he suffered from a stroke. He was born June 5, 1949 in Oregon, OH to the late Thomas F. and Helen R. (Starmol) Palmer. Doug was a 1967 graduate of Oak Harbor High School, was the recipient of a full tuition scholarship from Toledo Edison, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo. On August 6, 1988 he married the former Marilyn Steindam, and she survives. He retired in 1998 from Pacific Bell (SBC), San Francisco, CA. Following his retirement, Doug operated his own informational technology consulting service to facilitate clients' transition into the world of technology. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, OH and Epiphany of the Lord, Toledo, OH. Doug continued to encourage and oversee alumni activities among his University of Toledo Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity Brothers. His passions were technology and socializing and ministering to the needs of family and friends. Survivors include Marilyn, his wife of 29 years, Oregon, OH; sisters Sandra (Dominick) Ciolino, Cincinnati, OH, and Karla E. (Timothy Dane) Palmer, Amherst, OH; nieces and nephews Kristina Ciolino, Anthony (Jamie) Ciolino, Ashleigh (Aaron Ramey) Windnagel, and Christopher (Kristen) Windnagel; one great-niece and two great-nephews. Visitation will be Monday from 2-7:30pm at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel, followed by a parish wake service at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10am Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, OH. Burial will be at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic School, St. Boniface Catholic Church, or the American Heart Association.
