Douglas A. Ford, 58 of Elmore, OH lost his battle with Muscular Dystrophy Sunday, July 22, 2018 at his home. He was born in Fremont, OH to the late Jimmie and Joanne (Zorn) Ford. Doug was a 1978 graduate of Woodmore High School, earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo, and received his MBA from the General Motors Institute. He worked at General Motors in the Cadillac Division, where his team earned several patents until 2000. Though being diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy as a freshman in high school, Doug never let his diagnosis get in the way of his dreams. He was an inspiration to many and had a great sense of humor. His family was very active in the Fremont Speedway where he was a crew member for the family Sprint Car. He also was a strategic partner with his father Jim running Fremont Speedway from 1999 - 2007 and was an inductee to the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame in 2017. He enjoyed Sprint Car Racing, following sport teams, reading and was Co-Owner with Alvin Roepkes Sprint Car Team. Survivors include his siblings: Randy (Debra) Ford of Woodville, OH, Becky (Robert) Kayden of Elmore, OH, and Vicky (Don Danens) Ford of Charlotte, NC; his companion Christiana Schnabel of Elmore; Nieces & Nephews: Kelli (John) Yaniero of Charlotte, NC, Kristin (Jeremiah) Cordy of Elmore, Ashley (Adam) Hendrickson of Charlotte, NC, Mike (Katie) Ford of Woodville, OH, Philip (Marley) Kayden of Chicago, IL; 10 great- nieces and nephews; uncle Ray (Pat) Ford of Luckey, OH; and aunt Christina Roepke of Gibsonburg, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew Michael Kayden. All services for Douglas will be handled privately thru the family. Burial will be in Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame , Muscular Dystrophy Association, or Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.
