Dorothy Mae Thierry

"What a beautiful difference one single life made" Dorothy Mae Thierry, 92, of Oak Harbor, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, July 14, 2018. She was born May 27, 1926 in Campbellsport, Ohio, to Florence Irene (Cope) Hoover and William Franklin Hoover. A graduate of the Peoples Hospital School of Nursing (now Akron General), she went on to be a member of the World War II United States Cadet Nursing Corps. She later continued her nursing at Magruder Hospital and Bataan Elementary School in Port Clinton, Ohio. Dorothy was an avid walker; gifted china and silk painter; and a talented gardener and seamstress. On June 15, 1947, she married the love of her life, James Edward Thierry. They were married 63 years before his death on December 5, 2010. She is survived by her children: Carol (Climaco) Metral; James R. (Marie) Thierry; Michelle (Jay) Suhrbier; Suzanne Thierry; John (Angie Stokes) Thierry; and beloved kitty, Boo Boo. Grandchildren include Max Metral; Joey Thierry; Louis Thierry; Marissa Suhrbier; and Robert Suhrbier, along with great- grandchildren Beatrix Metral; Felix Metral; Huxley Metral; and Sebi Arcidiacono. All services for Dorothy will be handled privately by the family with burial to be with her husband in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
