Dorothy M. Humberger, 93 of Elmore, OH passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Otterbein-Portage Valley in Pemberville, OH. She was born July 10, 1929 in Elmore, OH to the late Rolla and Esther (Beck) Weis.
Dorothy graduated from Harris-Elmore High School in 1947. She began her career as a booker for the Western Shoe Company in Toledo. She then worked at Owens Corning in accounts receivable until she married the love of her life Glen Humberger Sr. on April 9, 1949. Dorothy also was an Avon Representative and worked at the Elmore Super Value until Glen’s passing January 3, 1986. Following the death of her husband, she worked for an attorney in Oak Harbor and ending her career as a receptionist for an orthopedic surgeon in Toledo.
Throughout her life she was active in several organizations. She was a charter member of OCL Pride’ N Joy Mothers Club, past President of the American Legion Post #279 Auxiliary, Elmore Community Choirs, and Board of Elections. Dorothy was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Elmore where she sang in the Choir, served as Deacon of Church Council, Christian Challengers, and later as an Honor Worker. Dorothy enjoyed her family, her many friends, playing cards, eating out, crossword puzzles, circle books, and the computer.
Survivors include her children: Linda (Dr. Bryan) Shumaker, John Humberger, and Glen Humberger Jr.; grandchildren: Ryan Humberger, Amy (Barry) Schultz, and Sarah (Danny) Mahoney; great grandchildren Ashlee, Adam, Adrian & Fallon; and brother-in-law Charles (Betty) Dibert. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant baby Jeffrey, brother Edgar Weis, sisters Marian Dibert and Leona Savage.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8pm at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Elmore. Burial will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Ashanti Hospice. Please join the family for a luncheon following the burial services.
