Doreen E. Kirk

Doreen E. (George) Kirk, 87, of Elmore, OH (and formerly McComb, OH) died Friday, June 21, 2024, at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. Doreen was born November 10, 1936, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Thomas & Dorothy (James) Bryan. She graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College with a B.A. degree in Physical Education.


Doreen married Raymond George on October 22, 1960 and he preceded her in death on January 24, 1968. Surviving are their two children, daughter Lori (Jon) Hickman, Oak Harbor, OH and son Phillip (Jane) George of Lake St. Louis, MO.; three grandchildren: Sara Lewis, Ruth (Dan) Myatt, and Ray (Sydney) George; and six great grandchildren.


She married Robert Kirk on February 14, 1969. Surviving is their son Zak (Laura) Kirk of Catawba Island, OH; three stepchildren: Patty Neal, Debbie Warnke and Kathy Kirk; five step-grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren.


Doreen enjoyed life and was a light to all the friends who crossed her path in her many pursuits: She taught swimming and synchronized swimming at the YMCA in Findlay; was a substitute teacher on Kelleys Island; an activities Assistant at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home; owner and operator of the “Irish Tea, Coffee & Gifts” at Lakeside; past president of Antiquarians also in Lakeside. Doreen was an avid photographer and past president & a founding member of the Port Clinton Photography Club. Her real passion was painting which she enjoyed teaching with a group of friends called “The Memory Makers.” She enjoyed traveling with family members and playing euchre with her friends. Doreen was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Elliston.


A private service and burial will be held at McComb Union Cemetery. The Community is invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Lori's Home, 10106 W. Elmore-Eastern Road, Oak Harbor, OH 43449 from Noon - 4pm. Services have been entrusted to Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorial contributions may be given to Zion United Methodist Church or Engaging Opportunities Foundation (as Christy’s Café was her favorite lunch spot).
