Donald W. Kern

Donald W. Kern, 88 of Oak Harbor, OH died Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital, Oregon, OH. He was born October 12, 1935 in Port Clinton, OH to the late Ollie and Pearl (Perry) Kern. On October 10, 1964 he married the former Violet J. Harder, and she survives. Don worked 30 years for Standard Products in Port Clinton. Following their closure, he was employed by the Village of Oak Harbor in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor where he was active on the Softball and Dartball teams. Don also enjoyed hunting, mowing the lawn on his John Deere lawnmower, and most of all he enjoyed going to watch the great grand kids play soccer.

Survivors include his wife Violet of Oak Harbor, OH; daughters: Donna (Jerry) Neff of Oak Harbor, OH, Cynthia Riley of Oak Harbor, OH, and Teresa Kern (Pat Schimming) of Martin, OH; grandchildren: Derek, Rhiannon, Felisha, Amber, and Ashley; great-grandchildren: Savannah, Gabriella, Archer, and Gunner; and sister Ethel Kern of Oak Harbor. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Adrienne Neff, sister Dolores Apling and son-in-law Steve Riley.

A Memorial Service will begin at 11am on Friday, October 4, 2024 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends beginning at 10am. Interment will be in Rusha Cemetery, Carroll Township, OH. Memorial Contributions may be given to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
