Donald J. Helle

Donald J. Helle, 89 of Chandlersville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born in Lucas County on September 23, 1927. He is the son of the late Lawrence and Josephine (St. John) Helle. He previously worked for Benton-Carroll-Salem School District as a bus driver and was an area farmer. He and his wife attended Blue Rock Baptist Church and he served his country in the US Army Air Corps serving from 1945 to 1947. Donald is survived by his wife, Grace M. Helle, whom he married March 24, 1956; his two sons, Donald D. (Cathy) Helle of Cannelville, Ohio and Ronald T. (Christine) Helle of Malta, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Amanda Helle, Logan Helle, Ronald (Jeannie) Helle, April Herevia, Tamara Bodi, Joseph Helle, Justin Helle and Robert Shelton; several step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Suzanne Helle and his brother, Lawrence C. Helle. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Friday at the Ferus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, 383 Main St., Duncan Falls, OH. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at 1 P.M. at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 301 N. Locust St., Oak Harbor.
