Donald H. Pfaff

Donald Henry Pfaff was born February 2, 1937 west of Oak Harbor on State Route 163 on the farm of his maternal grandparents, Henry & Emma Dressler. He was the son of the late Clarence J. and Eileen (Dressler) Pfaff. He was baptized, confirmed, and married in St. John's Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge Ohio where he was active in Lutheran teachings and choir. He married Shirley (Hemminger) on April 5, 1956 and was blessed with 2 children, Bobbi Kay and Doak. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley (Hemminger), daughter Bobbi Wittman, son Doak (Kelly) Pfaff, grandchildren, Troy (Brittany) Wittman, Carli Wittman, Kayla Pfaff and Stephanie Pfaff. One great-granddaughter, Reese Wittman. Sisters Sharon Sprague, Janet (Don) Radsick, and his nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Lyman " Gabby " Sprague. He was active in Boy Scouts and was a Life Scout while growing up. He enjoyed Rotary for many years and made numerous business friends. For 30 years, Don worked on the railroad in various departments, lastly as an Amtrak engineer. He was also a partner in PAR builders and built many homes & developments in the Oak Harbor area. He moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1998 where he developed a sub-division in Powell, Ohio. In his retirement years, he worked at Kroger's meat department in Powell and made dealer trades for Bob Boyd and Germain Ford. He loved meeting and talking to people. The most important things in life to him were his family, sports and his savior, Jesus Christ. His great joy was watching his children and grandchildren participate in their various sporting events. There will be a private service for the celebration of his life at 11 a.m. on Monday July 8, 2013 at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church at Lytham in Upper Arlington, Ohio. Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, is handling arrangements for the family.
