Donald F. Bahnsen, 75, of Pemberville, OH, and formerly of Oak Harbor, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Otterbein/Portage Valley Retirement Community, Pemberville. He was born in Erie Township, Ottawa County on May 13, 1931, the son of the late Frederick & Dorothy (Hengvoss) Bahnsen. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, where he was an Elder and a Deacon. Don served as president of the church council, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, Senior Choir, Bell Choir, and was the dartball team captain. He was also a member of the Ottawa County Farm Bureau, American Legion Post #114, and was treasurer of Oakwood Manor, Oak Harbor. Don enjoyed woodworking and made toys, model vehicles, and school buses. He was a 45 year employee of the former Standard Products Company, Port Clinton, where he worked in the accounting department. He married the former Carolyn Good on October 19, 1958, at Fireside Church in Bellevue, OH, and she survives. Also surviving is his son, Douglas E. (Melissa) Bahnsen, Ripley, OH; daughters, Diana K. (Steve) Anderson, Morgantown, WV, and Donna M. (Ross) Wagner, Pemberville, OH; sister, Mary Lou (Charles) McClure, Napoleon, OH, and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step-mother, Irma (Miller) Bahnsen. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor with Rev. John W. Bock and Rev. Robert Waidmann officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
