Donald E. Sorg

Donald E. Sorg, 90 of Elmore, OH died Monday, September 10, 2012 at his home. He was born May 30, 1922 in Lindsey, OH to the late Raymond and Mabel (Willey) Sorg. He was a 1941 graduate of Harris- Elmore High School and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 1946 during World War II. On May 1, 1948 he married the former Lucille "Bobbie" Kelsey and she survives. Mr. Sorg retired in 1984 as a pipefitter for Sun Oil in Toledo, OH. He also was employed by the H.J. Heintz Company as a salesman and worked at the Elmore Elevator. He was a member of St. Paul Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore and a past member of the Elmore American Legion Post 279 and volunteer firefighter for the Village of Elmore. Don enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, farming, bird watching and spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Bobbie of Elmore, sons: William C. (Diane) Sorg of Elmore, Douglas E. (Marcia) Sorg of Elmore, Thomas L. (Lynn) Sorg of Elmore, and Jeffery A. (Cheryl) of Sandusky, OH; sister Ona Mae (Robert) Krotzer of Genoa, OH; 7 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 7 step- great- grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother Raymond Sorg Jr. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore- Genoa Chapel with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Melissa Steinecker officiating. Burial will be in Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to: St. Paul Trinity United Methodist Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or Genoa Care Center.
