Don H. Harder, 77, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Monday afternoon at Parkview Care Center, Fremont, Ohio, after a long illness. Don was born in Rocky Ridge, Ohio on June 11, 1930, a son of Henry A. & Mildred K. (Brough) Harder. On October 3, 1964 he married Peggy A. Smith of Pemberville, Ohio, who preceded in death on January 24, 1982. Don graduated from the former Harris-Elmore High School in 1948, and served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Henry Harder & Sons Construction with his father, and later had his own construction business, and worked for KeyBank until retiring in 1990. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing his banjo, and singing with his family and friends. Don was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. Active in Masonic circles, Don was a member and Past Master of Oak Harbor Lodge #495 F. & A.M. and was a 32nd degree Mason affiliated with the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo. He was also a member of Fremont Chapter, #133, O.E.S., American Legion Post #114, Oak Harbor, and Moose Lodge #1610, Port Clinton. Don is survived by his children, Lee (Jan) Harder, Lynn (Doris) Harder, and Cindy Harder, all of Oak Harbor, Jan (Keith) Cultice, Marblehead, Kay (Aaron) Weidmann, Oregon, Ohio, Darin (Ruth) Harder, Bono, Ohio; stepsons, Clarence (Kay) DeTray, and Lynn DeTray, both of Oak Harbor; sister, Mildred Jean Gackstetter, Elliston, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Frank, Lyle, Robert, and Max Harder. Friends may call from 7-9 P.M. Wednesday and 2-9 P.M. Thursday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, with the Rev. David A. Voll officiating. Interment will be in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, Ohio, with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #114.
