Deane D. Osborne Jr.

Deane D. Osborne Jr., was born June 5, 1931 in Toledo, OH and passed away at the Sandusky Firelands Hospital in the early morning of November 6, 2019. Deane Jr. was the son of Deane Sr. and Edna (Walker) Osborne. As Deane Sr. worked at the Toledo YMCA, so Deane Jr. spent his growing years learning skills at the local Y. He attended Robinson Jr. High and DeVilbiss High School, graduating in 1949. At DeVilbiss, Deane was active in theater, was a member of various clubs, and on the varsity swim team. Enrolling at the University of Toledo, Deane had an active campus life- President of Freshman class, roles in theater productions, varsity cheerleader, and joining the local fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. In January 1951, Deane enlisted in the United States Air Force and was in Korea with the 67th Reconnaissance Air Group. His last enlistment assignment was at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, GA. It was there that he started working at radio stations. After the service, Deane re-enrolled at the University of Toledo becoming active in fraternity life and on the tennis team. It was at TU where he met Margaret Schill and they married in 1956. They had two children Deane III and Laura. In 1961, Deane started managing radio stations where the job started in Bowling Green, OH then moved the family to Illinois, a short stint in Pennsylvania, then on to Madison, Wisconsin for several years. The next move in radio took him to Cincinnati, OH. While in Madison, Margaret was diagnosed with breast cancer and she passed away in 1991. After the station was sold in Cincinnati, Deane decided that radio was no longer an option. By this time, he had renewed his friendship with Lynnda Learey, a long time friend from Lakeside, OH. Deane obtained his real estate license in 1992, and they moved to Marblehead and got married in 1993. Deane worked at the Bolte Real Estate Agency in Lakeside, then joined the Firelands Title Company as V.P. and General Manager in 1998. He later became a part- time sales agent with Street Sothbys Intl Realty in Lakeside. He retired from there in 2016. Deane was active in the Lakeside community: an officer in the Lakeside Property Owners Association, a life member and trustee of VFW Post #7572, and an officer in the Marblehead Lions Club. Deane is survived by his wife Lynnda; son Deane III; daughter Laura; step- sons: Terry (Trish) Tomlinson and Dan (Tina) Tomlinson; step daughter Holly (Matt) Andreason; granddaughters Lindsay and Courtney Osborne; and seven step- grandchildren; four step- great- grandchildren; and brother George (Rietta) Osborne. A Memorial Service will begin at 3pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel where the family will receive friends from 1pm until the time of the service. A private burial will take place on the family plot in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Marblehead VFW Post #7573.
