David L. Wistinghausen, 83 of Oak Harbor, OH died Saturday, May 1, 2021 at his home under Hospice Care. He was born September 10, 1937 in Oak Harbor to the late Lewis and Dorothy (Krause) Wistinghausen. He was a 1955 graduate of Oak Harbor High School. On January 6, 1957 he married the former Bette L. Aurand and she survives. David was a 3rd generation owner/operator of Wistinghausen Florist and Greenhouse in Oak Harbor. Some say he retired in 2005 but everyone knows that, for years after, he could often be found in the greenhouse attending to something that needed to be done. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. He also held memberships in the Oak Harbor Rotary, where he was a Past President and the Port Clinton Elks Lodge #1718. He and his wife Bette, enjoyed the winter months in North Fort Myers, FL. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Bette of Oak Harbor; daughters: Kim E. (Douglas) Parker of Port Clinton, OH and Deborah L. (Hugh) Renner of Clyde, OH; son Robert L. (Kim) Wistinghausen of Oak Harbor; grandchildren Jaime (Michael) Cohen, Jeremy (Crystal) Parker, Jillian (Phillip) Estep, David (Kate) Wasserman, Megan Wistinghausen, and Jacob (Stephanie Barlow) Wistinghausen; great- grandchildren: Braden, Bryce, Bria, Kellyanne, Bradley, Elizabeth, Emmett, and Beckett; sister-in-law Cheryl Peterson; and brother-in-law David Baldwin. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lewis “Sonny” Wistinghausen Jr., and sisters Natalie Tea and Doris Hohn. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8pm at the Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
