David L. Buhrow, 74 of Fremont, OH and formerly of Oak Harbor, OH died Saturday, January 6, 2024 at his home under Hospice Care. He was born October 20, 1949 in Port Clinton, OH to the late Herbert R. and Carolyn M. (Schiller) Buhrow. He was a 1966 of Oak Harbor High School and Penta Vocational School.
Following High School, David enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his boot camp at Great Lakes, IL, was located near the equator during Vietnam serving on the USS Intrepid, then continued his military education in California. David was Stationed in Hawaii where he was married and had his first son, Doug. He received 2 Bronze Stars, National Defense Medal, US Navy Combat Medal of Good Conduct , Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, Medal Rep. of Vietnam Situation Unit Ship Aircraft Carrier as a Signal Man. Following his deployment, David spent the next 30 years working for GTE, Frontier, and Verizon doing utility pole work throughout Ottawa County including many trips to the Islands with many plane trips.
Survivors include his children: Douglas (Kathy) Buhrow and Claudia (Zeb) Blau; grandchildren: Payton, Sydni, and Brady Buhrow, Katelyn and Jillian Blau; siblings: Wendy Buhrow, Roger Buhrow, and Brenda (Ron) Dunn. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother Douglas Buhrow.
David’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 2-6pm at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial Contribution may be made to Wounded Warriors Project or American Lung Association.
