Daryl M Stack, 82, of Port Clinton, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Otterbein North Shore Senior Living, Lakeside, OH. He was born February 27, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY the son of William and Camile (Smith) Stack.
Surviving is his first wife: Marilyn Stack of Brunswick, daughter Suzanne (Joe) Hahn of Elyria, Granddaughter Lauren, Grandson Kevin. Son Michael preceded Daryl in death March 24, 2021. Brothers: Clifford (Marlies) Stack, Estero, FL and Lancaster, PA. Craig (Ivette) Stack, Scotch Plains, NJ. Several nieces and nephews.
Daryl proclaimed 1989 at the age of 47, his New Life, (name on his 1974 Penyan), New Wife, New House (cottage on Catawba), New Job (Troy, MI with CDI)
Daryl married his second wife: Karen Erickson of Medina, September 7, 1989.
Since 1989, Daryl has welcomed several Grandchildren into his family. He was adamant that he not say step children, thus they were all his children.
His marriage to Karen brought 4 children into the fold: Ray (died December 1, 2016) (Petra) Anderson, Clarksville, TN. grandchildren, Kelley (Jamie), Corrisa (Ryan) and Riley: Kari Massay, (Jeff- died January 30, 2022) S. Lyon, MI, grandchildren, Brandon and Erin (Gabe): Roger (Jill) Anderson, Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, Jessica, Bryan (Krista), Colleen, Greg (Andrea), Matt and Tylor: and Robert Wright, Philadelphia, PA. granddaughter Rosa. Thus, during Daryl’s 34 years of marriage to Karen, he has been grandfather to 19 children including in laws, and great grandfather to several more.
Daryl enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Short stint in the Army, on Wall Street, earned his Marketing degree going at night, sold train cars to shippers, moved first family to Pittsburgh area and then to Brunswick. He became Area Manager for Manpower Temporary Help Services. From there he was recruited to Modern Engineering Co., of Troy, MI, as Director of T.S.I. Office Services Division to procure engineers for the Automotive and related industries. After two years of commuting weekends to Catawba it was decided to go find an adventure on Catawba and winter 3 months in Florida. He wore many hats, delivered phone books, sold placemat advertising, sold Culligan, traveled to Akron, Cleveland and became Facility Manager at Stautzenberger College, Toledo. Founded Family Billiards at Knoll Crest Shopping Center and ended up with D. Stack and Company selling sporting equipment, and scoreboards to area High schools and colleges.
Golf was his game, Fishing, boating, cooking, and reading Mysteries set in NY.
Daryl survived Skin Cancer and prostate cancer, and then had incontinence the past years. During all these years he never complained, yielding to phenomena his final days.
Daryl’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 27, 2024, at The Chapel, Port Clinton Campus. 4650 Port Clinton Eastern Rd. A short service and sharing time from 2 to 4 p.m.
