Darrell Aurand Brand

Darrell Aurand Brand, 82, of Port Clinton passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Otterbein North Shore. He was born August 19, 1937 in Bowling Green, OH the son of Robert George and Ardah Noreen (Lahman) Brand. He married Cornelia "Connie" Longaker on August 23, 1959. Darrell graduated with a BA from Heidelberg University and a MS in Nuclear Physics from Case Institute of Technology. He worked for IBM as a Systems Engineer in Cleveland and retired from Pioneer Standard of Cleveland. Darrell and Connie purchased a marina in Port Clinton in 1978 and started Brands Marina. He loved working at the marina and purchased a bare hull Westsail 32 and finished building the sailboat himself. He was a member of Fireland Presbyterian Church in Port Clinton and the Port Clinton Yacht Club. Surviving are his wife: Connie; children: Stewart Lahman Brand of Cayman Brac, Megan (David) Wedig of Mason, OH, Dalton Perry Brand of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Tyler Brand, Katelin (Tommy) Reinhart, Brennan Wedig, Wyatt Brand, Casey Brand; great-grandchildren: Thomas Eugene Reinhart, IV, Winston Charles Reinhart, Emma Sue Reinhart; sister: Shirley (Nick) Randazzo of Ellington, CT; brother: Robert Brand of Lawrence, IN. Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Firelands Presbyterian Church, 2626 E. Harbor Rd. Port Clinton, OH 43452 where the family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Firelands Presbyterian Church.
