Darlene A. Mahler

Darlene A. Mahler, 80, of Marblehead, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on April 2, 1938 in Gypsum, Ohio, a daughter of the late Alfred and Bernice (McLaughlin) Boss. She married Joseph Mahler on February 1, 1957 and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2012. Darlene was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Danbury Twp, where she was a Sunday School Teacher. During the election years, she volunteered to work at the election board. She was also a homemaker and enjoyed being at home with her family. She loved to cook and bake, with her specialty being wedding cakes. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Valerie Mahler, of Marblehead, Jerry (Karen) Mahler of Huron, Joe "Junie" Mahler, of Port Clinton, and Chris (Traci) Mahler, of Marblehead; daughter-in-law, Lisa Phillabaum, of Fremont; grandchildren, Samantha Mahler, Christian Mahler, Dale Mahler, Jr., Kassidy (Joe) Wilkins, Kaylee Mahler, Jason Mahler, Jessica Mahler, Doug Spiegel, Bret Phillabaum, and Aliyah Phillabaum; great-grandchildren, Drew Mahler, Rachelle Mahler, MacKenzy Mahler, Nathanael Mahler, Clayton Mahler, Madelynn Mahler, and Kaydence Mahler; sister, Gloria (David) Fuerstenberg, of Gypsum; nieces and nephews; numerous in-laws; as well as her canine companion, Luke. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Dale Mahler. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 11 am with Pastor Christina L. Young officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
