Daniel E. Haley, 66 of Oak Harbor, OH died Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at University Hospital, Cleveland, OH following a sudden illness. He was born June 26, 1958 in Detroit, MI to Eugene Haley and Elizabeth (Densmore). He was a 1976 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods, a suburb of Detroit, MI. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State
University in Engineering Arts. On August 21, 1981 he married Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Donnellon. Dan retired after a long and successful career as a Mechanical Engineer in nuclear power at both Perry and Davis-Besse nuclear power plants. He was a devout member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor where he was in the Knights of Columbus and an avid fish
“friar.” He was also an active member of the Zoning Board of Review for Salem Township for many years.
Dan enjoyed tending to his garden and small orchard on his property where the efforts of his labors were enjoyed by many; perhaps most importantly to him, his grandchildren who loved taking a ride out in the side-by-side to help pick fruits and veggies, many of which went directly into their bellies. He was a man who prioritized his family and cared deeply for those
around him. He had a wonderful, and often wicked, sense of humor and those closest knew that his teasing was the most sincere sign of affection. Dan shared 43 wonderful years of marriage with Mary Beth, their love being the kind you strive for in life, an inspiration to many and a model example to their children.
