Dale A. Lewis

     Dale Arthur Lewis, 74, of Oak Harbor, OH died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at his home. He was born September 7, 1950 in Graytown, OH to the late Howard and Gertrude (Gatager) Lewis. He was a 1968 graduate of Harris-Elmore High School. On December 20, 1986, he married Becky (Bowman) who preceded him in death May 27, 2022. Dale retired in 2005 from Norfolk & Southern Railroad as a territory supervisor.

     Dale was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He loved to go hunting with his son and grandsons in Graytown and West Virginia. He also loved golfing, belonging to several leagues at Sugar Creek Golf Course in Elmore. Dale was always willing to lend a hand to anyone that needed help with any project. His favorite passion was traveling with his wife Becky, and they went on many adventures around the USA. He never met an ice cream or strawberry shake he could say no to. His pride, if you ever got him talking, was his grandchildren. He often said he did not know what he did to deserve kids that great, but he was sure proud of them all. If you ever ran into Dale around town or the golf course, he was usually accompanied by one of his hounds. He loved and treated them like people more than pets.

     Survivors include his children: Jason (Angie) Lewis of Oak Harbor, OH, Jenny (Chris) Smith of Oak Harbor, OH, Craig (Heather) Wargowsky of Mogadore, OH, and Shaun Wargowsky of Bellevue, WA; grandchildren: Jacob Lewis, Caleb Lewis, Leila Wargowsky, Dylan Wargowsky, Lexi Blank and Abbi Blank; step-grandchildren: Dallin Smith, Jessica (DJ) Robb, and Kyler Smith; and faithful companion and buddy Briar. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Becky, brother Paul Lewis; sisters: Susan Humphrey, Norma Relyea, and Kathy Murhee; and beloved dog and companion Penny.

     Private Graveside Services will be held by the family at Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 3 – 6pm at Sugar Creek Golf Course, 950 W. Elmore-Eastern Road, Elmore, OH 43416. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Sand Road, Port Clinton, OH 43452.
