Cynthia Avers, 70, of Elmore, Ohio, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. She was born on January 31, 1950 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Albert & Lena (Cataldo) Michael. Cindy was a graduate of Kennedy Christian High School in Hermitage, PA, Villa Maria College in Pennsylvania, and earned her Master’s degree in Education from the University of Toledo. She was a teacher at Woodmore Schools for 35 years, teaching French nearly all of that time. Cindy was a member of the “Silver Sneakers” at the YMCA in Fremont, Ohio, and enjoyed crafts. On June 12, 1971, she married Michael Avers, and he survives. Also surviving are their sons, Paul Avers, Elmore, and Robert (Sarah) Avers, Oberlin, Ohio; sisters, Patricia (William) Maykowski, Uniontown, Ohio, and Mary Michael (Richard Davis), Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, and a grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Albert Michael. A Celebration of Cindy’s Life will be announced at a later date, and interment will be at Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore, Ohio.
