It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Courtney, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Courtney B Stoner, 65 of Woodville, OH died Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at the Cleveland Clinic, Main Campus following a brief illness. He was born March 11, 1959 in Toledo, OH to the late Donald and Vera (Behring) Stoner. He was a 1977 graduate of Woodmore High School. He married his wife Rhonda in September of 1979.
Courtney was raised across the street from the local golf course and his love for the game blossomed early in his life. He spent countless summers teeing off with friends, and being a member of the Tuesday night golf league. He was a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes, proudly cheering for his teams. He spoke fondly of exciting vacations taken with family and friends.
Courtney took immense pride in his surroundings, spending time caring for his yard with detail and dedication that spoke to his character. His work ethic was equally commendable, as he dedicated many years to Nelson Tree Service and the Ohio Turnpike, where he retired from in December of 2023. He enjoyed sharing humorous and heartfelt stories from his work and life. He was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed assistance.
As a proud father, grandpa, and owner of his dog Echo, Courtney’s family was his world. He celebrated the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren with pride. He was Macy’s favorite golf coach, imparting not just skills but also the love of the game and he was there to support Sage-not just as a spectator but as one of her biggest fans.
Courtney will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community as he made rounds in his truck, visiting his kids and lifelong friends, spreading laughter wherever he went. His smile, laughter and humor will be cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.
Survivors include his wife Rhonda of Woodville, OH; children: Erin (Tim) Perry of Elmore, OH and Garrett Stoner of Rocky Ridge, OH; grandchildren: Macy & Sage Perry; Sister Wendy Stookey of Tampa, FL. and other in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brother Brady Stoner.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date by Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.crosserpriesmanfuneralhome.com.
