Clyde E. Winters, 82, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away Friday at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 24, 1931 in Carroll Township, Ottawa County, a son of Elgin & Grace (Stock) Winters. Clyde attended Oak Harbor schools where he enjoyed playing football, basketball, and participating in track. On June 2, 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Margie Ann Rose. Clyde retired from Brush-Wellman (now Materion) in 1992, after 36 years of service. He was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, and was a founding member of the Oak Harbor Lions Club. Clyde was a former member of Oak Harbor Lodge #495 F. & A.M. and was a member of The Black Swamp Woodcarvers. After retirement, he enjoyed spending many hours taking drives with his wife and spending time with his family. He also took great pride in working in his yard and even won Yard of the Month for his beautiful work. Clyde also enjoyed fishing, playing dartball with his church family, and his Friday morning breakfast at Kozy Corners with his church friends. Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Margie, and eight children: Mike (Pam) Winters, Debbie Genzman, Patrick (Kathleen) Winters, Gary (Kathy) Winters, Lori Bartok, Jerry (Shannon) Winters, Eric Winters, and Marci (Bob) Gagne. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren (with 2 on the way); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elgin, Elmore, Glenn, and Kent Winters; twin sister, Anna Winters, sister, Helen Winters; and grandsons, Joshua and Jamie. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 19, 2014 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 165 Toussaint Street, Oak Harbor, where the family will receive friends after 10:00 A.M. Monday. The Rev. David A. Voll will officiate, and interment will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Following the service at the cemetery, a luncheon will be served in the social room of the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Improvement Fund of St. Paul United Church of Christ or Senior Independence Hospice, Toledo, Ohio.
