Clarence Robert Clere

Clarence Robert Clere, 92, of Graytown, OH died Friday, February 17, 2012 at his home. He was born June 21, 1919 in War Eagle, West Virginia to the late Sherman and Daisy (Risner) Clere. On July 10, 1940 he married the former Mary Margaret Wilburn and she survives. Mr. Clere worked over 37 years as a section laborer for the former Norfolk & Western Railroad retiring in 1979. He enjoyed woodworking, taking care of his lawn, and playing cards especially rummy. Family was very important to Clarence and he took great pride in watching it grow. Survivors include his wife of 71 years Mary Margaret of Graytown; sons: Clarence Ronald (Joyce) Clere of Graytown, Larry T. (Pam) Clere of Buford, GA, John R. (Ele) Clere of Mililani, HI; daughter Janet L. Herman of Genoa, OH; son-in-law Richard Van Ness of Oak Harbor, OH; 12 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 31 great- great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons: Robert E. and James L. Clere; daughter Verna Van Ness; brothers: Oria, Lonnie, Lannie, and Amos Clere; brother Franklin Jenkins; sisters Georgia Ward and Tinia Hicks; and 3 grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8pm with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
