DUE TO LEVEL 3 WINTER STORM EMERGENCY PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGES Christian D. "Critter" Karnes, 44, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 10, 1969, a son of Raymond Karnes and Sharon Murray. Chris was a long haul driver for FedEx Freight for 13 years, and was a devoted fan of The Beatles. He attended St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. On September 16, 1995, he married the former Carolyn Kurfis, and she survives. Also surviving his father, Raymond Karnes; his children, Chad, Kevin, and Kelly Karnes; brothers Jason (Valerie) Karnes, Raymond (Stacey) Karnes, and Brian (fianc Rose) Karnes; mother & father-in-law, Robert & Jane Kurfis; brother-in-law, Ken Kurfis; Aunts, Kim (Jeff) Violenti, Pat Borysiak, Sue (Harvey) Lacy, Keith (Tina) Karnes, Rose (Ron) Champlin, Carol (Tom) Brake; nephews, Travis, Thomas (Sierra), and Tristan Karnes; special cousin, Danae Losey-Jenne; great niece & nephew, Amaylah & T.J. Karnes, and special friends, Dan & Dawn McMullen & Family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Murray, and grandparents, Art & Virginia Karnes and Daniel & Dorothy Murray. Chris was very proud of his children, nieces, and nephews and their accomplishments. Family was everything to him. The family will receive friends from 2-9 P.M. Wednesday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday. Rev. Kyle J. Timmons will officiate, and interment will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Following the interment service, a luncheon will be provided at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Chris' family would like to express their sincere thanks to Carroll Township Police and E.M.S., Dawn McMullen, and the staff in the emergency department at Magruder Hospital for all their help and compassion during this difficult time.
