Cheryl E. Laney

Cheryl E. Laney, 61, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born on February 10, 1956 in Port Clinton, the daughter of the late Clarence "Manny" and Ruby (Kirby) Wheeler. Cheryl worked as a Child Support Investigator for the Ottawa County Job and Family Services in Oak Harbor until her illness. She loved to read, enjoyed doing crafts, and watching Sci-fi movies. Survivors include her son, Jeremie (Erica) Wheeler, Curtice, Ohio; daughter, Staci Laney, Port Clinton; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Ryan, Aaron, Kaden, and Elizabeth Wheeler; former husband, Jimmie Laney; brother, David Wheeler, Port Clinton; and sisters, Carol Wheeler and Coletta Wheeler, both of Port Clinton; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Johnny Wheeler; and sister, Berna Carroll. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 2-8 pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Harry Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery.
