Cherie D. Grounds

Cherie D. Grounds, 77, of South Bend, Indiana, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 while visiting her granddaughter, in Port Clinton, Ohio. She resided with her son & daughter-in-law in Barboursville, West Virginia for the past two years. She was born on June 5, 1929, in South Bend, IN, the daughter of the late Garld & Alice (Wickizer) Teeter. Garld passed away early in her childhood and she was raised by Glen C. Herreman & Alice. She married William Wesley Grounds on July 23, 1949, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1998. She worked in the payroll department at Monarch Laundry for 40 years. She actively participated in South Bend Press Club (Hoaxes) for years as a costume director. Survivors include her sons: Robert (Debbie) Grounds, Barboursville, WV, and Richard (Rochelle) Grounds, Bremen, IN; Daughter: Cynthia Grounds, South Bend, IN; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters: Katherine “Pat” Santa, South Bend, IN and Myrene Platts, Indianapolis, I. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son: William Wesley Grounds II. There will be no visitation and interment will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, South Bend, IN on May 25, 2007 at 3:00 PM. A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2007 in South Bend, Indiana.
