Catherine Marie "Cathy" Gulas

Catherine Marie “Cathy” Gulas, 54, of Oak Harbor and formerly of Catawba Island passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021. Cathy was born August 16, 1966 in Sandusky, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Rofkar) Gulas. Cathy lived on Catawba Island most of her life and moved to Oak Harbor after her mom died and when her dad could not take care of her any longer due to poor health. Cathy treasured the simple things of life: family gatherings, Barney videos, Bugs Bunny, Mr. Rogers television programs, putting puzzles together, wearing sparkly clothes or jewelry, wearing watches, often time many at one time, singing “Old McDonald had a Farm” with family members, boat trips to Put-in-Bay and riding on the Merry-Go-Round there and dancing with Uncle Ron. Cathy brought much love, laughter and joy into the lives of everyone that knew her. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends. The family would like to thank the many caregivers Cathy has had for their loving care of her. Surviving are her aunts: Marlene Gulas of Catawba Island, Dorothy Slaughter of Asheville, NC; uncles: George (Barbie) Rofkar of Bellingham, WA, Bill (Anne) Keesor of Naples, FL; cousins: Steve Gulas of Catawba Island, Linda (Mark) Sprenger of Catawba Island, Laura Keesor of Birmingham, MI, Julie (Mark) Ribel of Traverse City, MI, Bill Keesor of San Antonio, TX, Dean (Louise) Rofkar of Bellinghan, WA, Julie Rofkar of Bellingham, WA, Carol Rofkar of Bellingham, WA and many many second cousins who loved and adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents: Bob and Ruth Gulas, who were devoted and loving caregivers to her throughout her life, grandparents: Albert Rofkar, Ralph and Florence Warnke, Paul and Millie Gulas; aunt: Ruthie Keesor and uncle Ron Gulas. Private family graveside services will be held at Catawba Island Cemetery with Rev. Chris Boyd officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Riverview Industries, 8200 W.
