Catherine M. Chimo, 61, of Alma, Michigan, died Saturday, May 7, 2011 at her residence. She was born on April 16, 1950 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, the daughter of the late F. E. (Nundy) and Margaret (Hrupcho) Chimo. She graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1968. She continued her education at The Ohio State University, having graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree, and then again in 1975 receiving her Post Baccalaureate certificate in Medical Technology. In 1983 she graduated from Western Michigan University as a Physician's Assistant. In 2000 she received her Master's Degree in Physician's Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska. She was employed by Dr. Prouty and Associates as a Physician's Assistant in Ithaca, Michigan. She was a member of St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Ithaca, Michigan; member of both the American and Michigan Associations of Physician's Assistants; member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology; charter member of the Heartland (Biking) Trail; and an adjunct professor at Central Michigan University where she mentored first year, master's level physician's assistant students. Her hobbies included cycling and hiking as she was active in various biking and hiking associations. Survivors include her brother: Stephen Chimo, Port Clinton, Ohio; sister: Anne Chimo, Toledo, Ohio; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 2:30-4:30pm and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. Family prayers will begin at the funeral home at 10:30am on Thursday, May 12, 2011, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, with Reverend John C. Missler officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Ithaca, MI., Immaculate Conception School, Port Clinton, OH or to Woodland Hospice, Mount Pleasant, MI.
