Caryl Berndt

Caryl Berndt, 81, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton, OH. She was born November 25, 1924 in Toledo, OH to the late Carl and Alma Christensen. In 1959, she married Howard “Mike” Berndt, and he survives. She retired from Toledo Edison where she worked in Data Entry at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station. Prior to that, she was a secretary for Canteen Services in Toledo retiring in 1989. She was a past member of St. John Lutheran Church, Toledo, OH, and was a member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 8732, Oak Harbor. She was instrumental in the founding of the Humane Society of Ottawa County. Survivors include husband Mike of Port Clinton; daughters: Laura (Bill) Maier of Toledo, Joyce Osborne of Charlotte, NC, Jill Phipps of Lebanon, IN, Janice (Paul) Keller of Toledo, Joan (Craig) Crippen of Granby, CO; son Dr. David (Marie) Berndt of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Judith Glick. The family will receive friends from 2-4 P.M. Saturday, May 27, 2006 at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Ottawa County.
