Carol Jean Merrick

Carol Jean Merrick, 81, of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on September 19, 1935 in Port Clinton, Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Rice) Taylor. Carol formerly worked at McDonalds. She was a member of Bellevue Church of Christ, as well as the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends, but her passion was spending time with her family. Survivors include her sons, Ronald (Kay) Van Deusen, Indianapolis, Indiana and Edward Welch, Marblehead, Ohio; daughter, Sandra (Louis) Gibson, Findlay, Ohio; grandchildren, Joseph (Jennifer) Van Deusen, Jessica Van Deusen, Aiden Gibson; great-grandchildren, Blakely and Kenzington Van Deusen; brother, William (Jane) Taylor, Port Clinton, Ohio; sisters, Lorna (Donald) Noble, Gahanna, Ohio, Rachel (Terry) Myers, Castalia, Ohio and Ann (James) Dickerson, Strongsville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio on May 22, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until funeral services at Noon with Minister Matt Wahl officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery.
