Carol A Barkhau

Carol A. Barkhau, 78 of Elmore, OH went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, OH. She was born December 6, 1935 in Genoa, OH to the late Rolla and Evelyn (Wolter) Sondergeld. She was baptized by her uncle, Rev. Dr. Louis Wolter. She was confirmed at St. Paul- Trinity Methodist Church and again confirmed in 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church, both in Elmore. She was a 1953 graduate of Elmore High School. On December 18, 1954 she married was married to Marvin Barkhau, who preceded her in death June 16, 2010. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore where she was a member of Ladies Aid, Thursday morning Bible study group, choir, and served as secretary for Church Council, and on the counting schedule. She worked as a secretary at Trinity Lutheran and law offices in Toledo. She was an inspiration to all with her upbeat outlook in dealing with her 9 year struggle with cancer and loved to meet new people and her friends to play dominoes. Survivors include her daughters Lee Ann Barkhau of Bowling Green, OH and Mary (Ed) Ashley of Rossford, OH; grandchildren: Grey (Sarah) Barkhau, Dayna West, Charles and Daniel Duggan; great- grandchild Vayda Schmidt; step- grandchildren: Brittney, Brooke, and Bailey Dey; brothers: Gordon (Betty) Sondergeld, Robert (Meta) Sondergeld, and Raymond (Leona) Sondergeld all of Genoa, OH; sister- in- law Janet Sondergeld of Genoa. She was also preceded in death by a brother Glenn Sondergeld. The family will receive friends from 3-8 P.M. Tuesday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. S.R. 51. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore, with the Rev. Stephen Lutz officiating. Interment will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Trinity Lutheran Church (150th Anniversary Fund), or Harris-Elmore Public Library.
