Carl Bayer Uhinck, 101, of Lakeside, Ohio died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on May 13, 1909 in Parma, Ohio, the son of Carl Jacob and Metta (Bayer) Uhinck. Carl married Ethel A. Witcraft and she preceded him in death on December 28, 1998. He worked as a carpenter and a commercial construction superintendent in the Cleveland area until his retirement in 1971. He loved to hunt and fish, and was an honorary member of the Lakeside Fire Department, and also a member of the carpenter's union in the Cleveland area. Survivors include his daughter: Judy (Ron) Sency, of Medina, Ohio; grandchildren: Carl R. (Renee) Uhinck, Jerri (Mike) Lucas, Michael (Lynn) Uhinck, Scott (Theresa) Uhinck, Pat (Kelly) Uhinck, Stacie (Jerry) Rose, Jodi (Rob) Van Gorder, Ron (Wendy) Sency, Tom (Michelle) Sency, Susan (Lou) Schaefer; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son and daughter-in-law: Carl Joseph and JoAnn; great grandson: Ryan Mackey; sisters: Laura Uhinck and Mildred Brandt; and brothers: Raymond and Edward Uhinck. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 11am until 1pm. A memorial service will be held at 1pm with Brenda Hurley-Shank, chaplain of Stein Hospice, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice or to the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department.
