Larry Richard Earls, 83, of Marblehead, OH passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born November 3, 1937 in Marblehead, OH the son of George and Lena (Pepon) Earls. Larry graduated from Lakeside High School and Bowling Green State University with a degree in Education. He married Dorothy Mary Brown on November 5, 1960 and she survives. He entered the Navy and served his country for 24 years retiring as a Captain. He was a Naval Flight Officer on the USS Saratoga and the Commanding Officer at Naval Reserve Personnel Center in New Orleans, LA. After retiring he worked as a civilian at the Pentagon and then substitute taught at Danbury Schools. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead and a former Village of Marblehead Councilman. He was a fisherman, gardener, avid Indians and Browns fan. He was a generous person taking people fishing, shoveling their snow or giving them tomatoes. Surviving are his wife: Dorothy; children: Elizabeth (Patrick) Schwind of West Chester, David (Molly) Earls of New Freedom, PA, John Earls of Sykesville, MD; grandchildren: Kathryn (Alan), Daniel (Katie), Andrew, Kevin (Paige), Brian (Ikumi), Joshua, Will; soon to be great-grandson Nolan; brother: Richard (Julie) Earls; brother-in-law: David (Elise) Brown; sister-in-law: Anne Brown and his walking buddy Pepper. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Carolyn (Clarence) Kukay and Mary Jean (Ray) Hudak. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father James Brown 10:30 am Saturday, December 19, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay St. Marblehead, OH where visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30am until the time of the Mass. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead, OH.
