Captain Bart Blaha, Jr.

Captain Bart Blaha, Jr., 71, of Marblehead, made his final cast on May 28, 2009 at the Toledo Hospital. He was born in June of 1937 in Cleveland, the son of Bart and Rose (Vavra) Blaha, Sr. Bart was retired from the Ford Motor Company in Sandusky after 30 years. He was along with his wife, the owner and operator of Sportsman Charter Service in Marblehead since 1964. Bart was a founding member and the first president (79-82) of the Lake Erie Charter Boat Association; was a member of the UAW Local 1216 and a member of the Western Basin Charter Boat Association. Surviving are his wife Claudette (Kilroy) whom he married on June 29, 1957; daughters Laurene (Michael) Pasztor of Amherst, Leah (Jim Wirth) Blaha of Cudjoe Key, Fla, Lecia (Ed) Segaard of Greenwood, SC and Michelle Blaha of Marblehead; grandchildren Edward Burcl, Brianne Burcl, Megan (Randy) Rakosky, Nathan (Megan) Burcl, Timothy Anson, Krystal Anson, Matthew (Judith) Johnson, Michael Johnson (serving in Iraq), Kyle (Michelle) Johnson and Christopher Segaard; five great grandchildren Kegan, Kalee, Gideon, Daniel and James; step brothers Norman Placek of Mantua and Charles Placek of Garfield Heights. Bart was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Mildred Blaha and a brother Milan Blaha. Friends may call from 4 pm Saturday until the time of services at 8 pm Saturday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 East Harbor Road, Marblehead. The Rev. Harry Hunt will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantry at Erie Shores Assembly of God or to the charity of one's choice.
