Calvin Kohlman

Calvin L. Kohlman, 85, of Port Clinton, died December 25, 2009 surrounded by his family at his residence after a long illness. He was born September 18, 1924 in Rocky Ridge, OH the son of the late Louis and Elsie (Schiller) Kohlman. In 1946 he married Arlene B. Hartenfeld and she preceded him in death on April 21, 1974. On June 12, 1975 he married Avolene Schings and she survives. Calvin was the owner of Kohlman Auto Wrecking and a lifelong farmer. He was a member of A.M.H.A., A.M.H.R., and Belgian Registry. He enjoyed raising Belgian and miniature horses. Calvin was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church. He also loved to buy, sell, and trade farm equipment and horses. Surviving are his wife: Avolene; sons: Larry (Barbara) Kohlman of Port Clinton, David Kohlman of Port Clinton, William (Kay) Kohlman of Port Clinton, Michael (Sheryl) Kohlman of Port Clinton, Jerry Kohlman of Oak Harbor, Raymond Kohlman of Port Clinton; daughters: Barbara (Bob) Harrison of Melbourne, FL, Kathy (Daniel) Shiets of Port Clinton; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Arlene, brothers: Alton and Olen Kohlman. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton with visitation Tuesday from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 -8:00 pm in the funeral home. Entombment will follow services at Lakeview Cemetery Mausoleum. Reverend Mike Wiechers will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH.
