Bruce P. Scherf, 69, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022 at his home. He was born March 21, 1953 in Bowling Green, Ohio the son of the late Paul H. and Virginia (Sturtz) Scherf. Bruce graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1971 and married Rebecca A. (Ontko) on March 31, 1973 and she preceded him in death on March 9, 2022. Bruce was an Ironworker for Local 55 in Toledo, OH. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor; Knights of Columbus; Sons of the American Legion, Oak Harbor; Local 55 and he was a part-owner of the Green Bay Packers. He was an avid Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers Fan. Surviving are his son: William (Jenny) Scherf of Graytown; daughter: Bridget (David Hicks) Scherf of Elmore; grandchildren: Jessica, Brooke and Chloe Shanteau and Trevor, Abbey and Riley Scherf; great-grandson: Donnie; sisters: Carol (Gary) McCormick of Sylvania, Susan (John) Johnson of Oregon, OH, Virginia “Ginny” (John) Eby of Sylvania; brother: Herbert Scherf of Curtice, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Rebecca; step-son: Robert Shanteau; granddaughter: Bailey Scherf and brother Paul R. Scherf. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am Thursday, April 28, 2022 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 215 N. Church St., Oak Harbor, OH with Father Timothy F. Ferris celebrant. Interment will follow in Salem Township union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, OH. The family requests you wear your favorite Notre Dame or Green Bay Packers atire.
