Bruce L. Meyer, 74, died Sunday, April 11 in Firelands Regional Medical Center. He was born February 21, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio. He was a graduate of Port Clinton High School in 1954 and a graduate of the University of Michigan in 1958. Following his graduation he served six years with the Marine Corps Reserves. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Port Clinton. Besides earning a degree in Economics at U of M, he also graduated from the American Institute of Banking in 1964. He worked at the Oak Harbor State Bank for many years and served as assistant cashier. He was hired by Celotex in November 1967, where he worked as an accountant for 31 years, retiring in March 1999. He was a car enthusiast, an animal lover, and an avid photographer. He doted on his nieces and nephews and could often be seen taking pictures of them at their baseball games, soccer matches, cross country meets, and ballet recitals. He loved to attend and photograph Playmaker productions, especially those in which his brother Doug and sister-in-law Jan appeared. He is survived by his sister Jill Meyer of Barrington, Illinois; brother Evan Meyer and sister-in-law Nancy Morrow of Philadelphia; sister Ellen Coppeler and brother-in-law John Coppeler of Port Clinton, and sister-in-law Janith Huston of Port Clinton. He is also survived by his nieces Adrienne Meyer and her husband Warwick Anderson; Amy Ellis and her husband Devon Ellis; Tracy Meyer, and Susanna Meyer and nephews John Coppeler and his wife Tracey Coppeler, and Evan Hudson Meyer, and by grandnephews and grandnieces Kyle, Colin, Kendall and Annika. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Ada Meyer, and by his brother Doug. A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 214 E. Second St., Port Clinton on Saturday April 24 at 11 a.m. Father Mike Wiechers will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church or the Ottawa County Humane Society.
