Brenda L. Hollensen-Henderson, 79, of Marblehead, OH passed away peacefully Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. She was born May 17, 1944 in Tiffin, OH the daughter of
George and Elsie (Radcliff) Strausbaugh. She married Thomas Henderson on August 14, 1982. Brenda graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School, class of 1962. She began her career in education, teaching 4th and 6th grades at Noble Elementary School in Tiffin. She also taught at Bowling Green State University before becoming a school teacher at Coshocton JVS, the Assistant Superintendent of Butler County JVS, Superintendent of Medina County
JVS and Executive Director of Cuyahoga Valley JVS, retiring in 1998.
After retirement she owned and operated the Rustic Roost Gift Shop with her daughter in Marblehead.
She was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church, a past president
of the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and a past director of
Ottawa County Habitat for Humanity. She took great pride in her work as a CASA for Ottawa County Juvenile Court. She had also been a member of the Eastern Stars.
Surviving is her husband: Thomas Henderson; daughter: Tammy (Steven
Keil) Dunlap of Wayne, OH; son: Scott (Sharon) Dunlap of Maple
Heights, OH; grandchildren: Anthony Theis, Travis (Jill) Persinger,
Brady (Andrea) Persinger, Zachary (Brittany) Persinger, Garrett
Dunlap; great-grandchildren: Georgia, Colton, Camryn, Blakelyn;
siblings: Dean Strausbaugh of Tiffin and Beth (Tom) Everett of
Woodville, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marcia Roby and sister-in-law Cheryl Strausbaugh.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm
at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service,
Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead, OH.
Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, October 1,
2023 at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Ave. Lakeside,
OH. Memorial contributions may be given to Ottawa County Family
Advocacy Center, 570 McKinley Dr. Port Clinton, OH 43452. Online
