Billie Rae Day

On July 18, 2014, a very kind and gracious soul, Billie Rae Zorn Day, passed away at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor under the care of Stein Hospice. She was born August 12, 1923 in Toledo, OH to the late Ray H. and Alice "Betty" (Bauch) Zorn. Mrs. Day taught at R.C. Waters Elementary School in Oak Harbor for 22 years retiring in 1985. A woman of great faith, she was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, where her great-grandfather Carl Bauch had been a minister. Billie loved to read and usually had a dog as her companion. She was an active swimmer, and later in life enjoyed walking. Billie was a graduate of Bowling Green State University- Cadet Program for teachers. Before she began teaching at age forty, Billie worked for PhotoReflex and enjoyed traveling the country as a sales manager. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son Jeffrey Day. Billie will be missed greatly by all who knew her and experienced her special sense of humor. Carol Martin, Jim and Sherry Priesman and family (her good friends and caregivers) wish to thank Stein Hospice, Riverview, and Magruder Hospital for the compassionate care Billie Rae received. Rev. John Stirewalt will officiate a Memorial Service beginning at 11am, Saturday, August 2, 2014 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Salem Twp. Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ottawa County Humane Society, the Oak Harbor Public Library, or St. John Ev. Lutheran Church.
