Betty Jane Sanders

Betty Jane Sanders, 84, of Elmore, OH died Sunday, September 23, 2007 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon, OH. She was born June 28, 1923 in Oak Harbor, OH to the late Walter C. and Alma (Schwartz) Beck. She was a 1942 Harris- Elmore High School Graduate. On July 10, 1943 she married Charles S. Sanders, Jr. who preceded her in death January 3, 1985. Betty Jane worked for H.B. Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, OH. She was first employed as a switchboard operator but retired in 1987 as the Hospitals’ Office Business Manager. She loved to play cards and play golf, while she was able to, during her residence in Grand Island, Florida for almost 20 years. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Elmore where she participated in some of the women’s groups. Survivors include her daughters: Sharon “Sherri” (George) Wight of Lima, OH, and Alma Jean “Jean” (Dean) Twining of Rising Sun, OH, brother Gerald “Jerry” (Delores) Beck and sister- in- law Dolores Beck both of Elmore, 5 grandsons: Steve, Randy, Paul Sanders, and Tim and Bill Wight, 13 great- grandchildren, and 3 step- great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son Charles S. “Sandy” Sanders III, and brother Melvin Beck. Visitation will be from 5-9pm Thursday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Friday, September 28, 2007 at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Heilman officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Bellevue, OH.
