Betty Jane Bachtel

Betty Jane (Robbins) Bachtel, 101 years old, passed peacefully Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at her daughter’s home. She was born March 20, 1921 in Port Clinton, Ohio the daughter of Dorothy Mahler and James Robbins. She married Harvey V. Bachtel, Sr. on March 21, 1938 in Maysville, KY. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Port Clinton. She was active in the Sarah Circle at church, taught Sunday School for 14 years and was a Bible Study Leader. Betty was honored for her 100th birthday with a proclamation from the Mayor of Port Clinton.

Surviving are her children: Frances L. (Robert) Gardner, Harvey V. (Pam) Bachtel, Jr. both of Port Clinton; seven grandchildren: Debrah Gardner, Joseph (Teresa) Gardner, Daniel Gardner, Danielle (Travis) Wagner, Brent Bachtel, Brian Bachtel, Janie (James) Hug; thirteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church, 900 Jefferson St. Port Clinton, OH Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, September 30, 2022 at the church. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Sand Rd. Port Clinton, OH 43452.
