Bernice S. Carter

Bernice S. Carter, 91, of Lakeside, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. She was born on February 20, 1915 in Alliance, Ohio, the daughter of the late Job & Ona (Shoemaker) Scott. She married Forest W. Carter on August 3, 1940, and he survives. She was an elementary teacher, teaching the 4th grade at Bolton School in Alliance, Ohio and then at the Loudenville-Perrysville School District, and then at Martel School, having retired in 1985. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, Lakeside, Ohio, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a life member of the State Teacher's Association. She loved music, and she enjoyed traveling. Survivors include her husband: Forest; sons: Forest S. (Connie) Carter of Loudenville, OH; David (Lovie) Carter, of Buckston, North Carolina; and Dwain Carter, of Helena, Montana; Grandchildren: Scott (Lisa) Carter, and Cari Carter; Step Grandchildren: Andrea (Jeff) Quidgley and Charles (Kelly) Ashworth; and twin sister: Berdine (Dean) Lawther of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Vernon L. Scott. The family will receive friends from 7-8 P.M. Thursday, March 9 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Friday, March 10, at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Ave, Lakeside, Ohio where additional visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Pastor Jerry Phelps will officiate. Burial will follow in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside United Methodist Church.
