Bernice LaPlantz, loving mother and quilt/artist, 100 of Genoa, OH went home to be with Jesus on Monday, March 12th 2018. She was born on October 29, 1917 to the late Ralph "Pop" Ernest Merle and Bertha (Marquard) Merle. She was the second oldest of eight children. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton LaPlantz who passed away on March 21, 1996. Bernice married the love of her life Milton LaPlantz on June 3, 1942 in St. Louis, MO. She is lovingly remembered by her son David M. LaPlantz of Santa Fe, NM and daughters Kathleen A. LaPlantz of Williston, OH; Mary E. (Larson) Haines of Holland, OH; sister Carolyn Mobley of Naples, FL and sister-in-law Margie Merle of Genoa along with many nieces and nephews and friends who loved her very much. Bernice was a life-long member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Genoa. She was a Charter Member of the Coterie Club. She was a member of the Cellar Sewers Quilting group. Visitation for Bernice will be held at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel 19550 West State Route 51 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16th 2018, with Funeral Services to follow immediately after the visitation, beginning at 11am. Pastor Don Giesmann of St. John's United Church of Christ, Genoa and Pastor Keith Simpson of Holland Free Methodist Church, Holland, OH will officiate. Interment will follow at Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. In Lieu of flowers, memorials for Bernice may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio 800 S.
