Bernard C. Huebner, 92, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away quietly on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 30, 1921, to Rudolph and Lillie Huebner. He was a graduate of Scott High School, and attended the University of Toledo before service in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and the Korean War. After he returned from the service, Bernie worked at Huebner Automotive, Toledo, a family business and later moved to Port Clinton to work at Smith Automotive on Fulton Street. While in Toledo, he established an Auxiliary Branch of the Ohio Highway Patrol and was an officer until his move with family to Port Clinton. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Jean; son, Tom (Judy) Huebner of Georgia; daughter, Jan (John) Meachen, of Wisconsin; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Rothlisberger, of Pennsylvania; and brother, Quinton (Marilyn) Huebner, of Michigan. Private services and burial at Catawba Island Cemetery are under the direction of Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Port Clinton.
