Bernadine B Newton

Bernadine B. Newton (nee Oberhaus), 86, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio, after a long illness. Bernadine was born on April 19, 1927 in Martin, Ohio, the daughter of the late Herman and Susan (Jensen) Oberhaus. She married Gilbert E. Newton on February 16, 1946 in Genoa, Ohio and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1988. Bernadine held many jobs in her lifetime, from being a truck driver, serving ice cream, fish cleaning, waitressing, but most of all, being a homemaker and a loving mother to all her children. Survivors include her children: Douglas, Rock, Shawn (Misty) Newton, and Robin (Rod) Fowler; sisters: Janet Purney, Carol (Henry) Krukemeyer; brothers: Thomas (Barb) Oberhaus and Dennis (Mary) Oberhaus; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many step grand and great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Jackilee G. Newton, grandson: Robert H. Newton; sisters: Nora (GI) Matchett, Bonnie (Merl) Keller, Paulette (Randy) Rudes; brothers: Roger "Buck", Wayne, Jerry "Butch", Donald "John" Oberhaus. Per Bernadine's wishes, there will be no visitation or services as cremation has taken place. Private burial will be at the Williston Cemetery in Allen Township. The family invites you to join them at the Carroll Township Hall in Ottawa County on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 2-4pm for a memorial get together to celebrate Bernadine's life.
