Barry B. Finken

Barry B. Finken, 70, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born in Port Clinton, OH on September 29, 1945, a son of Brayton F. & Lucille (Rider) Finken. On December 16, 1966, Barry married his high school sweetheart, the former Virginia L. Wheeler. Barry was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School and was an iron worker for Local #55 in Toledo, OH for many years. He retired in 1999. Barry was a passionate golfer and greatly enjoyed golfing with his friends at the Oak Harbor Golf Club where he was a long time member. An avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Barry also enjoyed fishing with his friends. He was an extremely accomplished woodworker and was very skilled in scroll saw work. He made many Bluebird houses for the Oak Harbor Golf Club and also landscaped the practice tee area at the club. In recent years, Barry and Ginnie enjoyed wintering in Florida. Barry is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Kent M. (Leslee) Finken, Russellville, AR; daughter, Kristina M. (Paul) Sarty, Oak Harbor; sisters, Judy (John) Verb, Oak Harbor, and Julie McConahay, Port Clinton; brothers, Mark Finken, Columbus, OH, and Scott (Julie) Finken, Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Trent M., Chloe R., Leah R., Remie C., Zoe L. and Lilly M.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Kevin L. Finken. Private family services were held at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor. A celebration of Barry's life for family and friends will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Oak Harbor Golf Club, 10433 W. Oak Harbor SE Rd., Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, the Oak Harbor Golf Club's First Tee program, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
