Barbara Helen Bloom

Barbara Helen Bloom, 93, of Catawba Island, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, OH. She was born May 14, 1927 in Bowling Green, OH the daughter of Delbert and Elizabeth (Laytart) Nye. She married Richard Bloom on August 22, 1948 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2003. Barbara was previously the Chief Operator for Ohio Bell at the Port Clinton Switchboard. She later worked for Port Clinton City Schools in the Cafeteria. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church where she was active in the Missions Group. She enjoyed spending time with her family, growing flowers and she loved to read and walk. Surviving are her children: David (Gail) Bloom of Dublin, OH, Barbara (Ken) Yoakum of Spring City, TN, Jane Bloom of Port Clinton, Carol (Chuck) Carr of Oak Harbor, James (Emilee) Bloom of Waterville, OH; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister: Jean Miller of Owosso, MI. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Catawba Island Cemetery with Rev. Ted Austin officiating. A Celebration of Barb’s Life will be held August 22, 2021.
