Barbara E. Crozier

Barbara E. Crozier, 81, of Elmore, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013. She was born March 30, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Everett and Doris Karlene. A graduate of Olney High School in Northwood, Ohio, Barbara was the Salutatorian of her graduating class. She held a number of administrative office and retail sales positions before and after raising her two children as a fulltime homemaker. She served as the receptionist on the executive floor of OwensIllinois and was an esthetician at Merle Norman Cosmetics. As a member of the former Elmore Christian Church, Barbara sang in the choir and chaired the Vacation Bible School and Christmas Eve pageants for many years. Barbara took classes in Interior Decorating at the University of Toledo and spent a lifetime surrounding herself with beauty by decorating and redecorating her home. She had an innate sense of design and enjoyed being fashionably dressed. She spent summers on Long Lake in Reading, Michigan where her family constructed a wonderful lakefront cottage; her father dedicated seven years to chiseling a rough face on each paving stone to complete the exterior. Barbara loved reading, music and dancing. She and 2 of her friends performed musicals for local audiences. She also loved nature and especially enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. Upon retirement, Barbara dedicated herself to her grandchildren where oftentimes, with very little notice, she would travel to Michigan or to Pennsylvania to provide a helping hand. She read countless stories, took shopping trips, drove to lessons and school, was an avid spectator at horse shows and sporting events, cleaned and did dishes and whatever else was needed with loving care and tremendous stamina. Barbara is survived by her brother, Ken (Jackie) Karlene: son, Brad (Susan) Crozier ; daughter, Cynthia (Tom) McTavish; grandchildren, Katie, Jen and Christian Crozier, Nick (Nicky) Clere, Caitlin, Sean and Todd McTavish and Melissa (Jakob) Carstensen, great-grandchildren Isabella, Pia and Mattias Carstensen and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Doris and Everett Karlene, and her grandson, Adam Clere. Visiting hours will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 West State Route 51, Elmore, Ohio. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Barbara's name to the Children's Lung Foundation, 2300 Overlook Road, Suite 406, Cleveland Heights, OH 44106.
