Barbara Ann (Barb) Moellman was born in rural Genoa, Ohio, January 4, 1939, to Walter and Alta (Benedict) Moellman. She grew up in Elmore, Ohio, graduating as co-valedictorian from Harris-Elmore High School in 1957. She then pursued one of her life passions by attending Toledo Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her Registered Nurse license. She worked at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio, becoming Head Nurse on the OB/GYN unit. Years later she pursued another passion by teaching practical nursing at the Toledo Hospital. She was able to combine her skills as a teacher with her caring as a nurse during these years. She completed her professional career working for the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation as a Nurse Case Worker. After retirement, she combined all of her passions in everything she did. She sang with the Toledo Swiss Singers for almost 60 years using her passion for music as well as her gift of service to help the organization in many ways. She has served as a docent for the Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont, Ohio, for many years. Again, the teacher in her gave her tours more than the standard information. Just a few weeks before her death, she was able to attend the annual Christmas dinner there. Barb also was an active member of Pilot International serving her local chapter as well as the national organization and attending the annual conventions faithfully. She was a life-long Lutheran who never wavered in her faith. She served her church, Zion Lutheran in Gibsonburg, Ohio, through numerous committees, Bible studies, choir, and support. She served on the board of the Luther Home of Mercy in Williston, Ohio, as a part of her passion for her faith. She also served on the Northwestern Ohio Synod Council and supported the work of the Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American through committees, volunteering, and Bible study. She had recently joined Bible Study Fellowship in Toledo, Ohio, and enjoyed the Bible study and friendships there. Of all the passions in her life, the most important to her was family. After the death of her parents, she was the glue that held the family together. She relished the game nights and the joy of being together. She traveled as much as she could, and she almost always included family in her trips. Her many nieces and nephews all were privileged to share in those trips. Barb’s growing family of grand nieces and nephews was a special joy for her—she called it a blessing to be able to meet them. Barb is survived by her brother, Dave (Nancy); sister, Diane (Jim Ninke); and brother, Barry (Shirley); nephews -- Tim, Paul, and Bryan; nieces – Brenda, Kris, Kathleen, and Nicole. Memorials may be given to either Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg, Ohio, or Luther Home of Mercy, Williston, Ohio. Services will begin at 11am on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg, OH. Burial will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore, OH.
